Blue Eyes and Brown Eyes: Jane Elliott
In 1968 Jane Elliott divided her fourth grade class into blue eyed and brown eyed sides. Hazel eyes had to sit the exercise out. She told blue eyed students that they were superior and brown eyed students that they were inferior. Then, they went through the rest of the day.
If you know the story, it's still pretty amazing what happened. If you don't know it, you can check out an article in Horizon Magazine, an interview with Jane Elliott, or you can even watch the entire Frontline documentary on the exercise.
