The Practical and the Strange: Using the Web to Market Books

This is a July post that I forgot to post...

Friend of the Pick, Vauhini Vara, has a great article in the Wall Street Journal about how publishing houses and individual writers are using the web to market books. This is not "Amazon Review 101," this is making up homepages for fictional characters, uploading entire books as Creative Commons open sources, and of course the multiple uses of blogs. Thanks for a great article Vauhini.

On that note of course is Chris Cleave's Incendiary, a book about terrorist attacks in London that was released the day of the terrorist attacks in London. Mr. Cleave made a major overhaul of his website, and he asks readers to comment on events, the book, and the combination of the two. Seems to be working.
